The Full Name of the Style |
Lets begin by looking more closely at the Chinese characters that make up the name of the style.
Kwong Sai (Guangxi in Pinyin Mandarin)
This is the province in China in which the style originated.
Jook Lum Gee
This reads: Bamboo Forest Temple. This is the name of the temple, which was of course in a Bamboo Forest.
Tong Long Pai
In Master Mark's dialect (Toison), this is pronounced more like as Hong Long Pai. It can be translated to Praying Mantis Style, however Tong Long literally translates to Insect King.
Gwok Shoot Tser
This means (approximately) Country Art Association, or perhaps National Art Association. This means that it's real Chinese Kung Fu.
(All the calligraphy seen here was done by Master Mark himself.)
